Using Chalk Paints for Painting Temporary Courts

Gyms are great places where people can train for sports. In some places, especially small towns or villages, enthusiasts of different kinds of sports may share the same gym floor. For instance, a facility originally made for basketball may be used by volleyball players. So how will the volleyball players know the boundaries of their game if the gym floor is permanently marked with the lines of a basketball court? In this situation, it is sometimes necessary to paint temporary lines on the floor. The most common product to use for painting temporary lines is chalk paint.

To make the chalk paint adhere better, thoroughly clean the gym floor by sweeping it clear of dirt or debris. It would be best if you can have someone polish the floor. If you mop the floor, be sure that it is completely dry before applying the paint. Use a guide that displays the proper court dimensions of the sport being played. Lay out the stencil on the floor in the design and dimensions needed. If you do not have a stencil set, you can use masking tape to mark the lines. Now you are prepared to apply paint. Shake the chalk paint to mix the pigment and the vehicle. Spray the paint onto the stencil pattern in a steady sweeping motion. You may have to re-spray to have an even distribution. Once the entire pattern is covered, allow the paint to dry completely according to the manufacturer's directions. When the paint is dry, carefully remove the stencil or the masking tape. Finally, chalk paints are designed for easy removal. Simply clean the area with a wet mop to erase all traces of the paint.
